Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium Grant is given to schools to support children in narrowing the attainment gap between pupil groups.  Common barriers for pupil premium children could be less support at home, weak language and communication skills, lack of confidence, more frequent behaviour difficulties and attendance and punctuality issues.

For the 2017 -2018 academic year we have been funded for 85 children who qualify for the grant (numbers taken from the January 2017 census).

Through targeted interventions we are supporting our pupil premium children to eliminate barriers to learning and progress. Most of our pupil premium children start school with low attainment on entry, however with targeted support we aim to make sure that our pupil premium children are given opportunities to make accelerated progress in order to reach age related expectations as they move through Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in line with their peers.

The key indicator to identify children who are entitled to the pupil premium funding are those who have free schools meals. However as all children in infant schools are now having free school meals it is becoming more challenging to make sure that we access the funding for our pupil premium children that they are entitled.

Therefore, if you think your child might be entitled to free school meals, it will help the school enormously if you register by completing the application form attached and returning it to the school office along with the required evidence as listed on the form.

Please do this even if you do not intend your child to have free school meals the school will still receive money for your child.

You are entitled to Free School Meals if you are in receipt of Income Support, an Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, an Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit (only if you do NOT receive Working Tax Credit), Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit, National Asylum Support Service.

If you are entitled to free school meals you are also entitled to free school milk for your child.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Please click on the link below even if you are still not sure to see if your child is entitled to the funding.
