Our Curriculum

Every half term each year group focuses on the same learning theme. Although the themes will be consistent throughout the school the actual learning that the children do will differ from year group to year group depending on the specific needs of that cohort of children and the curriculum that they are required to follow.

Each learning experience will have a ‘HOOK’ to get the children inspired and interested in the learning that they are about to partake in. At the end of the learning experience the children will have an ‘OUTCOME’ that they will be working towards e.g. a show for parents, an art exhibition. More often than not parents are invited into school to experience the learning that has taken place over the half term and share in the outcomes.

We are keen to make the children’s learning relevant and purposeful and in doing so will try to have visitors into school or go out on school trips. The school fosters and encourages enrichment in all areas of the curriculum. Each class will have a curriculum-based trip to enhance our Community Curriculum at least once a year.

Below are the yearly overviews for each year group. Please go onto the specific year group page for more details on National Curriculum coverage.
