World Book Day 2015

What an amazing day we have all had today. A big thank you to all the parents and carers who provided the book character costumes. All the children looked fantastic and so did all the staff!

We have had a themed day based all around book settings . In assembly first thing this morning, the teachers had to choose an envelope to reveal a different setting. The settings included a dark cave, a haunted castle, a shipwreck and a desert island. Then once back in their classrooms, the children generated ideas of what they would like to do based around the setting theme. All the ideas came from the children. There was no pre-planning from the teachers which really kept all our teachers on their toes!

All the children were very busy and engaged creating pictures, writing stories, creating drama, making puppet shows and creating models to name but a few of the exciting activities that have been happening around the school. Then at 2.30pm classes shared what they had been doing with another class from a different year group. The children absolutely loved sharing their day with each other and were so proud of what they had achieved.

Thank you to Miss Butcher for helping us all to have a fantastic day celebrating books!

This is what the children had to say about it......
