Science Week 2015

Science week was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all the children and staff alike.  Thank you so much to those of you who completed our parent/carer questionnaires.  We were delighted to hear that the children have been excited to share their learning with you.  We were even in the local newspaper!

This is what some of the children had to say about Science Week......

I know all about magic balloons!  The balloon was on a bottle and the adult blew it up but not with her mouth! It was amazing! James

I did magic with milk.  You use food colouring and washing up liquid and you can make pretty patterns.  It’s like magic.  Honey-Mai

I enjoyed Wibble Wobble Jelly because I got to touch it, make it and take it home – then I ate it! Oliver

I loved Mr Rush with Miss Butcher.  You put stuff on the road to slow him down.  Feathers slowed him down! James

The balloon was cold at the bottom and hot at the top.  Hot air goes up – like a hot air balloon.  Macy

I liked the explosions.  You put the salt in cola and shake it, shake it and then you put it down and run!  It exploded cos the baking powder made it go bigger and bigger and then it went bang! Romeo

We made the biggest balloon you ever saw outside with Mr Carter – Leo

We didn’t use a pump to blow up the balloons or our mouth.  We just put it on the bottle because the little bubbles in the cola made it go up! Kitty.

I loved learning about volcanoes and I made one with Mummy at home. Owen

We made Zog fly using the force of a balloon! That was so fun.  Chloe

This is what some of the parents had to say about Science Week......

Mixing with children from other classes has made Millie feel more grown up! She loved the Mad Hatter’s Tea party.

Hayden has loved every minute of it and has not stopped speaking about it every evening.

This week has been fantastic and both my boys have loved it!

Frankie has enjoyed coming in and it has provided a lot more family conversation and fun. He now wants to be known as “Super Frankie”!

This needs to be more frequent; Matthew has learnt so much.  He excitedly tells me the night before what he plans to choose the next day!

Please do more weeks doing other activities involving the whole school!

Burton has talked about his learning every day after school during science week!

Lucas always enjoys school but he especially has this week.  He absolutely loved lighting up Zog the dragon!

Finn has been very excited about going to school and choosing where to learn.

It’s been really nice to see Macy enthusiastic about her learning.

Summer has been very eager to learn this week – please do more mini workshops like this in different subjects!
