Arts Week October 2014

20th- 24th  October 2014

The last week before half term the whole school enjoyed our arts week. Each year group team chose a different country and created an exciting and interactive week for the children. To start our arts week we had the Tree House theatre come into school and presented a show to each year group called The Dancing Turtle. At the end of the week the children presented and performed what they had achieved to their parents in the hall.

Year 2 China

During the week all the children rotated around different classes and participated in various activities. The fan making activity and fan dance were a great success. As was the Chinese brush paining and origami class.

Year 1  India

The Year 1 children loved creating their rangoli patterns outside with chalk and understanding how they originated. They watched Diwali festival videos showing dancing and music then created their own dances to music. The large festival Indian elephants were great fun to make! The traditional Bengali folk song 'Under the lemon Tree' was performed to all the parents. It was a great success.

Reception Brazil

The Reception children had a wonderful time learning about samba music and dancing. They had a go at drumming and created some great moves to their samba music. Their  colourful Brazilian headdresses looked fantastic as they recreated their own carnivals.
