Space Seeds

Sylvan is very lucky to be taking part in Rocket Science. Rocket Science is an experiment being run by the Royal Horticultural Society and the European Space Agency. The seeds traveled up to space with British Astronaut Tim Peake before returning to earth again. A thousand schools were selected to take part in the experiment which involves planting a pack of normal seeds and a pack of seeds that went to space. Below you are able to the progress of our seeds.

27th May: The experiment has now finished, all the data will be collected and analysed to find out the results. The plants now have to be destroyed as we do not know which ones have been exposed to space atmosphere - so no eating them! We are looking forward to seeing how our experiment may help future space travel.

17th May - As you can see from the pictures below our space seeds are really starting to come on now looking more and more like rocket everyday. There is very little difference between the 'Red Pack' and the 'Blue Pack'.

6th May - Our seeds are now starting to grow alot taller and stronger!

29th April - Our seeds are now growing leaves!

25th April - Our seeds have started to germinate!

21st April - Today we planted our space seeds!
